Matt Beard, La Salle-Peru

Year: Junior

Season highlights: Beard was a solid No. 2 runner for the Cavaliers. He placed fifth at the La Salle County Meet. Beard took 21 in 17:48 at the Class 2A Morris Regional and ran a personal best 17:13 to place 57 at the Peoria Notre Dame Sectional.

Ian Eller, Amboy

Year: Junior

Season highlights: Eller was a strong No. 3 runner for the Clippers, who did not lose to a Class 1A team during the regular season. He placed eighth at the Class 1A St. Bede Sectional to help Amboy claim the team title and finished the season with a 14th-place finish at the Seneca Sectional. Eller had a personal best of 17:09.

Ryan Hartman, L-P

Year: Junior

Season highlights: Hartman was dominant throughout the season, going undefeated in Interstate Eight Conference duals. He placed second in the La Salle County Meet, took third at the I8 meet, placed third at the Class 2A Morris Regional and finished 16 in a season-best 16:20 at the Peoria Notre Dame Sectional, which would have qualified him for state in a normal season.

Elijah House, BV

Year: Sophomore

Season highlights: House was a strong No. 1 runner for the Storm. He won four of eight regular season races he ran and placed third in three others. House ran a personal best 17:15 at the Class 1A Rock Island Alleman Regional to place 21st.

Brock Loftus, Amboy

Year: Junior

Season highlights: Loftus was always at the front of the pack this fall, winning eight meets and finishing second in four others. He placed second at the Class 1A St. Bede regional and sixth at the Seneca Sectional to lead the Clippers to a third-place finish, which would have qualified for state in a normal year. Loftus finished 51 in the ShaZam Championships, an unofficial state meet.

Kyler McNinch, Amboy

Year: Sophomore

Season highlights: McNinch was a talented No. 2 runner for the Clippers as he placed top five in every race but the sectional. He finished third at the Class 1A St. Bede Regional to help the Clippers to the team title and placed 11 at the Seneca Sectional to help Amboy to a third-place finish, which would have qualified for state in a normal year. He had a personal best of 17:07.

Mason Stoeger, Fieldcrest

Year: Junior

Season highlights: After splitting time with football last fall, Stoeger excelled this season focusing solely on cross country. He won two meets, placed second at a pair of meets and took seventh at the Heart of Illinois Conference Meet with a personal best 16:29. Stoeger placed sixth at the Class 1A St. Bede Regional and ninth at the Secneca Sectional, which would have qualified him for state in a normal year. He placed 87th at the ShaZam Championships, an unofficial state meet.
