My favorite place to see fall foliage is White Pines State Park in Mt. Morris. There are plenty of other parks in the region that have more colorful oak and maple trees and fewer green pine trees, but, for me, it's more about the tradition of making the annual trek. My husband and his family have been going there since he was a kid and we've continued the ritual every October with our kids. On a perfect day, we have breakfast at the lodge, take a turn on the swings and big slide, drive through the stream, hike the trails, and relax in the Adirondack chairs while smelling the fresh pines. If the weather's bad, we just eat, drive through the creek and smell the pines from the car. Although this year will be different since the lodge closed earlier this summer, I'm still looking forward to a leisurely autumn day in the park.
