La Salle County coronavirus update: With 16 new confirmed cases, running total reaches 499

With 16 new confirmed cases reported Saturday along with no new confirmed recoveries, the number of diagnosed and active cases of the novel coronavirus in La Salle County increased to 232, the La Salle County Health Department [LCHD] released early Saturday afternoon.

The running total of COVID-19 cases in the county also approached a milestone, reaching 499 since the start of the pandemic in March.

The 16 new cases included nine women (one in her 80s, one in her 70s, two in their 50s, two in their 40s, one in her 30s and two in their 20s; six men (one in his 70s, one in his 60s, two in their 50s and two in their 20s); and one boy (under the age of 13).

Three have been 249 La Salle County residents who have tested positive, recovered and been released from isolation. There have been 18 deaths related to complications from COVID-19.

There have been 14,249 COVID-19 tests administered to La Salle County residents, an increase of 193 from Friday's numbers.

According to ZIP code data from the IDPH website (numbers can lag a few days), since Friday's report:

• Streator had an additional six confirmed cases, increasing its total to 53.

• Mendota had five more confirmed cases, increasing its total to 75.

• Ottawa had an additional two cases, increasing its total to 77.

• La Salle had one more confirmed case, increasing its total to 29.

• Grand Ridge had one additional case, increasing its total to eight.

• Marseilles remained at 52 cases.

• Peru remained at 40 cases.

• Sheridan remained at 32 cases (20 of those Sheridan Correctional Center inmates).

• Oglesby remained at 21 cases out of 425 tests.

• Somonauk remained at 19 cases out of 424 tests.

• Earlville remained at 16 cases out of 299 tests.

• Seneca remained at 12 cases out of 548 tests.

• Leland remained at 10 cases out of 207 tests.
