La Salle County coronavirus update: 16 new cases, 3 removed from isolation, 216 active cases

Grand Ridge ZIP code area now reporting 7 cases since mid-March

Sixteen new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Friday by the La Salle County Health Department, increasing the number of active cases to 216 countywide.

Two men in their 20s, a man in his 30s, two women in their 30s, two men in their 40s, four women in their 40s, a woman in her 50s, two women in their 60s, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 80s each tested positive for COVID-19.

The new cases increase the number of confirmed cases to 483 since the beginning of the pandemic. Three additional individuals who tested positive have been released from isolation Friday, increasing that number to 249. There have been 18 deaths related to complications from COVID-19 since mid-March.

There have been 14,056 COVID-19 tests taken among La Salle County residents.

The Grand Ridge ZIP code area now is reporting seven confirmed cases out of 140 tests since the beginning of the pandemic. Friday is the first day the ZIP code area has reported six or more cases, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

According to additional ZIP code data from IDPH website (numbers can lag a few days), since Thursday's report:

• La Salle had five more confirmed cases, increasing its total to 28 confirmed cases out of 1,460 tests since the beginning of the pandemic.

• Mendota had four more confirmed cases, increasing its total to 70 out of 969 tests.

• Peru had three more confirmed cases, increasing its total to 40 out of 1,112 tests.

• Streator had an additional confirmed case, increasing its total to 47 out of 2,107 tests.

• Marseilles had an additional confirmed case, increasing its total to 52 out of 1,208 tests.

• Ottawa remains at 75 cases out of 3,425 tests.

• Sheridan remains at 32 cases (20 cases Sheridan Correctional Center inmates) out of 424 tests.

• Oglesby remains at 21 cases out of 425 tests.

• Somonauk remains at 19 cases out of 424 tests.

• Earlville remains at 16 cases out of 299 tests.

• Seneca remains at 12 cases out of 548 tests.

• Leland remains at 10 cases out of 207 tests.
