Bureau County authorities are searching for a missing 3-year-old boy in the rural Walnut area this morning.

At this time, it is believed the boy, Pierce Mojden, walked off into a corn field with two dogs, a Labrador and a husky. The boy and the two dogs have been missing for about an hour now.

Authorities from Manlius, Walnut, Yorkville, Bureau County Sheriff's Office were called to 16364 2500 North Avenue in Walnut around 9 a.m.

A relative of the boy confirmed he is from the suburbs and was here visiting family. The boy was outside playing with his grandpa and walked off with the two dogs. The boy is wearing a navy blue shirt, blue pants and Crocs.

Because the boy is missing with two dogs, police say they cannot use police dogs to search for the boy as it will throw off the scent. Currently, there are four drones out searching the fields. Search and Rescue is on scene, as well as the Bureau County Command Post.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information comes in.
