Are you feeling ill? Then phone your lawyer or the circuit clerk's office and tell them you can't come. No judge or lawyer wants you coming in.
That's rule No. 1 under some revised guidelines issued Friday by the 13th Judicial Circuit, which includes La Salle, Bureau and Grundy counties.
Anyone with a required court appearance must wear a mask or face covering and must procure their own. Court security will also take temperatures at the security checkpoint and will not admit anyone running a temperature or otherwise exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.
The Chief Judge's Office further urged defendants to not bring friends and family members with them. Everyone with a case pending is asked to check their appearance dates and contact their attorneys to see if they are personally required to stay home.
To further ensure social distancing, defendants are asked to arrive to court no more than 15 minutes before their scheduled appearance times and to depart the building immediately after their matter is concluded.
