PRINCETON — One of Princeton's premier summer events, the Z Tour Bike Ride is the latest COVID-19 cancellation.

Organizers of the ride announced Friday after careful deliberation, they have canceled the event and will resume it in June 2021.

The ride, which has routes ranging from 10-100 miles through Bureau County has been a consistent fundraiser for the Zearing Child Enrichment Center, providing security and other upgrades worth tens of thousands of dollars.

The steering committee still is encouraging riders to visit and enjoy riding, but on an individual basis rather to avoid large crowds.

"Bureau County offers some of the most scenic and finest riding conditions in the Midwest for any and all riders who would like to get out there and enjoy our beautiful riding in the Princeton area," said ride organizer Bill Schabel in a statement.

Pre-registered participants can contact organizers for a full, no-questions-asked refund, they may consider the cost a donation to the organization or they may use it towards a "super early bird" signup for next year's ride.

Z Tour organizers will continue to update riders via their Facebook page.
