The Illinois Valley Federation of Labor and the Illinois Valley Building Trades will be hosting their fourth Biennial Labor Summit on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the K of C Hall, 401 W Main St., Ottawa.

Durbin was elected in 1996. He has been the Senate Democratic Whip since 2005, which is the second-highest position for the Democratic party in the U.S. Senate.

Scheduled Speakers include Durbin, State Sen. Michael Hastings (D-Tinley Park), Illinois Department of Labor Director Michael Kleinik, State Rep. Lance Yednock (D-Ottawa), Supreme Court Justice Thomas Kilbride, of La Salle, University of Illinois Professor Robert Bruno, Ottawa Mayor Dan Aussem, Mandy Ganiey, of Painters District Council 30, and local attorney Alexis Ferracuti.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and the event should conclude at 2:30 p.m.
