‘Everyone wants to come down here’

La Salle celebrates businesses coming to town

Three La Salle storefronts were filled within three recent weeks, and council members are happy with the news.

Monday night, the council approved the request from Denna Leifheit, owner of Peaces of Fashion to install a 11’ by 1.5’ non-illuminated wall sign at 733 First St., which is the new location she recently moved into from her previous La Salle location.

“We were there for her grand opening,” said Mayor Jeff Grove. “The store looks great.”

Going along with that, Katherine Koyak, city economic development director said another business moved into the former Peaces of Fashion and someone else moved into that business’ location too, meaning three spaces were filled within three weeks.

“Storefronts are a priority in La Salle,” said alderman Diz Demes. “Everyone wants to come down here.”

Koyak shared a year-review of her work with council members, showing the number of businesses that came, relocations and ribbon cuttings that happened, and there were over 20 businesses on the list.
