Peru public works personnel say it seems like there's been a water main break every other day lately.
The most recent came late Saturday night in front of the Peru fire station on West Street, creating some weekend work for city crews and forcing the fire department to make a little bit of an adjustment.
Around 9 a.m., the city had the break, in the driveway of the fire station, fixed. And before noon, the city put a temporary patch on a square they had to cut out of the driveway.
Until the hole was patched, Peru had a pumper truck and the aerial ladder truck outside in back of the station, running and ready to go. With the hole patched, the trucks were back in the station before noon.
The fire station and police station staff were told to boil drinking water today, according to a dispatcher. Other parts of town were not affected.
