Rich Hafley, president of Spring Valley Lions Club, never dreamt he would have to be concerned with bad weather, but they have rescheduled a food drive to Nov. 9 to benefit clients of Hall Township Food Pantry that Luckily, Spring Valley Supermarket’s entrance gives him and fellow Lions plenty of indoor space.
From 9 a.m.-2 p.m. next Saturday, shoppers will be greeted by Lions members and receive a pantry wish list, including but not limited to, canned spaghetti sauce, Chunky soups, fruit cocktail or canned pineapple, fruit juice, instant oatmeal packets, paper towels, rice/pasta sides, salad dressings, sugar and tuna helper.
The food pantry also accepts monetary donations.
Hall Township Food Pantry serves residents of Arlington, Bureau, Cherry, Dalzell, DePue, Hollowayville, Ladd, Seatonville and Spring Valley.
“Each year, for the past several, Spring Valley Lions have set aside a Saturday in November to collect food for the Pantry, knowing the winter months are especially hard on families in need,” says Jan Martin, pantry director.
