ROUNDUP: St. Bede boys cross country wins lone home meet

In its only home meet of the year, the St. Bede boys cross country team earned a victory.

Anthony Hernandez ran the course in 18:58 to win individually and lead the Bruins to a 17-29 victory over Hall. Putnam County also participated but did not have enough runners for a team score.

St. Bede had the top four runners as Beau Bonnell took second in 19:06, Daniel Dugosh finished third in 19:19 and Michael Ditmar was fourth in 19:22.

Hall’s top runner was Kaden Crowther, who placed fifth in 19:48, while Joey Twardowski led the Panthers as he was sixth in 19:59.

In the five-runner girls race, Hall’s Tea Cattani won in 21:58, while St. Bede’s Brady Mudge was second in 22:59.


Earlville 4, Hinckley-Big Rock 3

Jarred Fries scored a pair of goals to lead the Red Raiders to a Little Ten Conference victory Thursday in Earlville.

Landon Larkin and Devyn Kennedy each added an assist for Earlville.


Bureau Valley def. Hall 23-25, 25-18, 25-19

Lauren Wirth put up 23 assists to go along with 12 digs, nine points, a pair of kills and a block Thursday to help the Storm to a Three Rivers Conference East Division victory in Spring Valley.

Carly Konneck contributed 14 digs and seven kills for BV (11-6, 3-1 TRC East).

Rochelle def. La Salle-Peru 25-21, 25-20

Kamryn Olson had 12 assists, 11 kills and 10 digs Thursday as the Lady Cavaliers suffered their first loss of the season in an Interstate Eight Conference match in Rochelle.

Emma Happ chipped in 12 points and six kills for L-P (12-1, 5-1 I8).

Lutheran def. Mendota 25-15, 20-25, 25-18

Ella Massey put up 13 assists to reach 1,000 for her career as the Spikers lost a Big Northern Conference match in Mendota.

Jenna O’Donnell added 13 digs for MHS (5-6, 0-1 BNC).

Peoria Christian def. Putnam County 25-16, 25-14

Morgan Hundley had 10 assists, eight points, five digs and a pair of kills Thursday as the Lady Panthers dropped a Tri-County Conference match in Granville.

Avery Lamis had five kills and five digs for PC (6-5-1, 2-1 TCC).

Newman def. Princeton 25-19, 25-21

Abby Peterson had 13 digs and four points Thursday as the Tigresses lost a Three Rivers Conference match in Sterling.

Katie Bates added 13 assists, four digs, three points, two aces and a pair of kills for PHS (7-5, 5-1 TRC East).

Newark def. Earlville 25-10, 25-15

Meg Harness had 12 digs, two kills and a pair of aces Thursday as the Lady Red Raiders fell in a Little Ten Conference match in Earlville.

Kylie Koontz had seven digs and two kills for Earlville (8-5, 2-2 LTC).

Flanagan-Cornell def. Fieldcrest 28-26, 25-22

Alyx Carls had 11 digs and eight kills Thursday as the Knights lost a Heart of Illinois Conference match in Minonk.

Zada Baker contributed 12 assists for Fieldcrest (8-2, 1-2 HOIC).

Serena def. LaMoille-Ohio 25-20, 25-21

Emma Lundquist had five points, four kills and three aces Thursday as the Lady Lions fell in a Little Ten Conference match in Serena.

Collette Motter added 14 digs for L-O.


Somonauk 165, Earlville 200

Branson Vahl shot a 35 to earn medalist honors as the Red Raiders fell in a Little Ten Conference match Thursday at Earlville Country Club in Earlville.
