ROUNDUP: Earlville soccer tops Somonauk

Jarred Fries notched a hat trick as the Earlville boys soccer team beat Somonauk 6-4 in a Little Ten Conference game Wednesday in Somonauk.

Devyn Kennedy, Jake Pickert and Jeremy Gomez scored a goal each for the Red Raiders.

BOYS GOLF

At Morris

Ben Cyr shot a 38 on Wednesday to share medalist honors as Putnam County finished second in a Tri-County Conference triangular at Nettle Creek Country Club.

The Panthers carded a 163 to finish narrowly behind Seneca (162) and ahead of Midland (227).

Ian Roach added a 39 for the Panthers (7-2).

At Spring Valley

Nathan Potthoff carded a 44 on Wednesday to help St. Bede finish second in a Three Rivers Conference triangular at Spring Creek Golf Course.

SBA had a 189 to beat Morrison (235) but lose to Fulton (179).

Rockford Christian 168, Mendota 170

Ethan Hannaman and Jack Beetz each shot a 41 on Wednesday as the Trojans suffered their first loss of the season in a Big Northern Conference match at Mendota Golf Club.

Taylor Joyce added a 42.

Hinckley-Big Rock 187, Earlville 204

Earlville’s Branson Vahl was the medalist with a 38 as the Red Raiders dropped a Little Ten Conference match Wednesday at Earlville Country Club.

GIRLS GOLF

St. Bede 191, Fieldcrest 229

Gianna Grivetti shot a 47 on Wednesday to earn medalist honors and lead the Lady Bruins to a non-conference victory at Tall Oaks Country Club in Toluca.

Ally Mendoza, Antonia Cattani and Alyssa Heitz each carded a 48 for St. Bede.

Audrey Hangens shot a 48 to lead the Knights.

At Princeton

Izzi Hall shot a 49 on Wednesday as Princeton finished fourth in a five-team meet at Wyaton Hills Golf Course.

The Tigresses scored a 236 to finish behind Kewanee (192), Sterling (200) and Erie-Prophetstown (218) but ahead of Indian Creek (265).

WOMEN’S TENNIS

IVCC 7, DuPage 2

La Salle-Peru graduates Michelle Windy and Nena Perry each won a singles match and combined to win a doubles match to lead the Eagles to victory Wednesday in Glen Ellyn.

Windy won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Perry earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.

The duo won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.

MEN’S SOCCER

The Eagles managed just three shots on goal in a loss Wednesday in River Grove.
