Despite not getting a hit in the game, the St. Bede softball team pushed across two runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn a 2-0 victory over Calhoun in the Class 1A third-place game Saturday in East Peoria.

Maggie Sons and Claire Morrow scored on a bunt by Ellyn Nowakowski to give the Lady Bruins the victory.

Abbie May pitched a shutout for St. Bede (20-9) as she allowed six hits and struck out 11 batters.

The third-place finish is the highest for any girls team in St. Bede history.
