La Salle-Peru graduate Rachel Hickey qualified for the Pan American Under 20 Championships with a second-place finish in the 1,500-meter run at the USA Track and Field U20 Outdoor Championships on Sunday in Miramar, Fla.
Hickey, who just completed her freshman year at Illinois State University, ran a 4:30.93 in her first collegiate 1,500 race.
The Pan American Championships are July 18-21 in Costa Rica.
St. Bede baseball holding alumni game
The St. Bede baseball program is holding its fifth annual Crosstown Classic Old Timers/Alumni Game at 1 p.m. July 6 at St. Bede.
All area baseball alumni are welcome to play.
Cost is $20, which includes T-shirt/jersey and a cookout after the game.

ALS Run/Walk set for July 6 in Walnut
The Walnut 5K Run/Walk for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) research will be Saturday, July 6 with the race starting at 8 a.m.
Runners can register in advance at runsignup.com and search for the Walnut 5K or call (815) 303-7726 to request an entry form to be sent.
Runners can also register the morning of the race from 6:45-7:45 a.m. at the tent located south of Bureau Valley North School, 323 S Main St, Walnut.
Trophies are awarded to the first, second and third place overall male and female, and medals are given to the top three in age groups; 15 age groups.
Bib chip timing, professional scoring by Racing Expectations and 3.1 mile course will again go through the streets of Walnut with the turnaround point close to the Walnut water tower.
