The Red Devils earned their third consecutive baseball regional plaque Monday as they defeated Riverdale 10-0 in the Class 2A Hall Regional final in Spring Valley.
Monday’s action was a continuation of Saturday as top-seeded Hall had a 9-0 advantage over No. 4 Riverdale before rain postponed the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Hall scored the 10th run on Monday for the five-inning victory.
Alec Bulak picked up the shutout win on the mound after allowing only one hit, striking out four and walking one in four innings on Saturday.
Jimmy DeAngelo and Trez Rybarczyk both hit home runs on Saturday and Cole Wozniak recorded a triple. Chance Resetich scored three runs, while Rybarczyk and James Mautino had two runs apiece.
BV girls track ends season at Honor Roll Meet
The IHSA State Meet wasn’t the last meet of the season for the Bureau Valley girls track and field team as some of the Storm competed in the Peoria Journal Star Honor Roll Meet Monday in Peoria.
Saige Barnett won the discus with a new Bureau County record throw of 133 feet.
Jade Aber won the triple jump, Carly Konneck was second in the long jump and the foursome of Marissa Endress, Konneck, Madison Morrow and Molly Bohm were second in the 400 relay and third in the 800 relay.
