The Illinois Valley has some of the top softball players in the state according to the Illinois Coaches Association.
St. Bede landed two on the Class 1A all-state team after finishing third in state.
Senior shortstop Maggie Sons was named to the first team, while senior pitcher Abbie May was voted to the second team.
Earlville-Leland senior Skyler Brue and E-L junior Jadyn Pickert earned spots on the third team.
In Class 3A, La Salle-Peru sophomore third baseman Kaitlyn Gibson was voted second-team all-state, while freshman teammate Maddy Pangrcic was named to the third team.
Hall junior Hanah Hart was voted to the second team in Class 2A, while senior teammate Sara Perkins was named to the third team.
Rybarczyk named NJCAA All-American
Hall graduate and Parkland College freshman Ty Rybarczyk was named NJCAA Division II Second-Team All-American.
Rybarczyk went 8-1 with a 0.96 ERA. In nine starts, he tossed five complete games, including three shutouts.
L-P baseball players honored
La Salle-Peru senior Jake Dahl was voted All-Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference.
Teammates Connor Reese and Drake Weber were honorable mention picks.
Area players named All-TCC
Several area baseball and softball players were named to the All-Tri-County Conference team.
In baseball, Putnam County seniors Caleb Tonozzi and Nolan Whitney were unanimous selections.
PC seniors Luke Carlson and Dan Sabotta were second-team picks, while PC juniors Luke Olson and Jacob Williams were named honorable mention.
Henry-Senachwine junior Ethan Condit was a second-team selection.
In softball, Henry senior Brynn Weidman was voted to the first team, while junior teammate Grace Condit was named to the second team.
Area honorable mention picks were Putnam County seniors Haley Cioni and Skyler Grevengoed and Henry sophomore Erin Hufnagel.
