Superstitions: If we win a game, I will probably wear the same socks, and I got like four pairs of shoes so I’ll keep the same shoes.
Favorite sports memory: Beating (Peoria) Manual last year (in the Class 2A Chillicothe Sectional) that was awesome. It was great. It was the sectional championship, and it was so loud. It was the best sports experience I’ve had.
What do you want to be when you grow up?: I might become a math teacher, and I’d love to coach basketball.
If you could spend a day with one athlete, who would it be and why?: LeBron James, he’s one of the greatest basketball players in present day and all-time. He’s phenomenal. Ryne Sandberg is up there. I consider Ryne Sandberg my No. 2 choice.
Last week’s accomplishments: Vrana scored 22 points with 11 rebounds against Rock Falls in the Class 2A Byron Sectional semifinal. He busted open his chin just before halftime and still scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to help Princeton beat Rock Falls 66-55. Vrana led Princeton in scoring again in the sectional championship game against Winnebago. Vrana scored 12 points to go with eight rebounds and three blocked shots in a 70-54 loss to Winnebago.
Vrana on his performance: We didn’t shoot the ball particularly well the first half (against Rock Falls in the sectional semifinal). The second half we definitely stepped it up, and I got some easy baskets off transition. We just found each other. We’ve had great chemistry throughout the year.
Head coach Jesse Brandt says: I thought the Rock Falls game, he took over the second half. He was pretty good against Winnebago, too, against some pretty good size. I thought he had a good week for us. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough.
