I wonder how many of those opposed to the Utica roundabout have had experience with that type or intersection.
A few years ago, two of our sons lived in Mt. Pleasant, a lovely 80,000 population suburb of Charleston, SC. An issue in a newly built-up area there was heavy traffic first thing in the morning and late afternoon, alternating with much less the rest of the time. They installed a couple of roundabouts, and that was where I had my first experience with them. Yes, it felt a little awkward the first few times through, but after that, I found myself totally in love with them!
Later I learned that not only does a roundabout move more traffic through an intersection faster, but there are less accidents than with traditional stop and go formats.
Give it a chance — you could fall in love too!
