William C. Prokup, 72, of 1017 Pike St., Peru died at 4:29 p.m. Oct. 5, 2009, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Peru. The Rev. Harold Datzman, O.S.B., will officiate. Burial will be at Peru City Cemetery with military graveside rites by the La Salle-Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 until the time of services Thursday in the funeral home.
Mr. Prokup was born June 11, 1937, in Spring Valley to Frank and Emily (Wyciskalla) Prokup. He married Patricia Dean on July 4, 1959, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Spring Valley.
He graduated from Hall High School in 1955 and served in the U.S. Navy 1956-1958.
He was employed by Union Car-bide/American Hoechst in Ottawa and the city of Peru before his retirement.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Peru.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Barbara Prokup Perino of Westerly, R.I., Julie (Fort) Miller of Granville and Jill (Scott) Tice of Minooka; three sons, Michael (Kim) Prokup of Granville, William (Bonnie) Prokup Jr. of Peru and James Prokup of Dalzell; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Ron (Eddijo) Prokup of The Villages, Fla.; two sisters, Janet (Dale) Sang of La Salle and Barbara (Gerald Schweickert) Riva of Ladd; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy.
