Thomas Joseph Mack, 44, of Palatine and formerly of Ladd, died at 6:31 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009, in Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Church, Spring Valley. The Rev. Harold Datzman, O.S.B., will officiate. Cremation will follow services and his ashes will be buried at Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday in Hurst Funeral Home, Ladd.

Mr. Mack was born June 18, 1965, in Spring Valley to Robert and Karen (Savio) Mack.

He was staff hardware engineer with Arris in Lisle. He graduated from Hall High School, Illinois Valley Community College, University of Illinois, and earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering at Northwest University. He developed two patents for the discovery of a method and apparatus for cabling equipment.

Survivors are his parents of Ladd; his fiancé, Mary Oelkers of Park Ridge; one son, Colby Mack of Palatine; two brothers, Tim Mack of O'Fallon, Mo., and Terry (Beth) Mack of Peru; one sister, Tracy Zellmer of Hinsdale; and nephews Kyle and Brenden Mack of Peru.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one aunt.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Savara, Jerry Jegglie, David Panizzi, Joe and Charlie Beckman, Karl Bates, Joe Carlisle and Mike Elliott.
