Theodore C. “Ted” Fisher, 76, of Lostant died at 5 p.m. Aug. 13, 2019, in Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Saturday in Shields Funeral Chapel, Oglesby. The Very Rev. Gary Blake will officiate. Full military honors will be conducted by La Salle-Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral chapel.
Ted was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Ottawa to Robert and Evelyn (Paulson) Fisher. He married Diana Franklin on July 18, 1964, in St. Joseph’s Church, La Salle. Ted and Diana recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
Ted worked as a body man for several area auto body shops spanning more than 40 years. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam, Thailand, Okinawa and Laos.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League in Jonesville and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in La Salle-Peru.
Ted was an avid collector of historical memorabilia. He enjoyed competing in car shows and won multiple awards for car restoration throughout the U.S. including many “Best in Show” titles.
Ted enjoyed the simple things in life including spending time with his family and his dog Mittens.
He is survived by his wife, Diana of Lostant; three daughters, Patti Ann Seei of Houston, Texas, Michelle (Scott) Hoge of Tonica and Raquel Fisher of Temecula, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Candis, Christopher, Braydee, Carissa, Tyler, Kelsi and Jayden; seven great-grandchildren, Landon, Lola, Ireland, Hayleigh, Alyvia, Carter and Teagan; and a brother, Robert Fisher of Oglesby.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Evelyn (Paulson) Fisher; a brother, Larry Fisher; a sister, Bonnie Millard; and a grandson Kolin Lionberger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
