Ruth Alice Marquis, 81, formerly of Tonica, died at 2:05 p.m. Oct. 27, 2009, in La Salle County Nursing Home in Ottawa, where she had resided the past eight months.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica with Deacon Brother Fran McGann officiating. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Leonore.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday in Hurst Funeral Home, Tonica.
Mrs. Marquis was born July 19, 1928, in Leonore to James and Sylvia Alberta (Locke) Edwards. She married Gordon Eugene Marquis in Wausau, Wis., on Feb. 14, 1951. She worked at Village Inn in Tonica for 22 years until retirement.
Survivors are three daughters, Sylvia A. Marquis-Hurst of Tonica, Dianna (William) Walker of Spring Valley and Barbara (Bill) Snyder of Tonica; three sons, Johnny Marquis of Peru, Ronny Marquis of Florida and Veron Marquis of Wisconsin; one grandson; one sister, Evelyn Fink of Leonore; and one brother, Howard (Clora) Edwards of Streator.
She was preceded in death by her husband Feb. 18, 1986.
