The Rev. Robert J. Zimney, 91, of Perryville, Mo., died Sept. 22, 2009, in St. Mary's of the Barrens, Perryville.
Services were Sept. 25 with burial at Vincentian Community Cemetery, St. Mary's of the Barrens.
He was born Nov. 9, 1917, in La Salle to Anton and Helena Nellie (Flannery) Zimney.
He was senior confrere in residence at St Mary's of the Barrens. He was associate pastor at St. Patrick's Church, La Salle, from 1962-1965.
He was a member of Congregation of the Mission (Vincentian Fathers and Brothers) and taught in seminaries during much of his adult life.
His apostolate assignments included serving on the faculties at St. Johns Seminary, San Antonio, Texas, 1942-48; St. Louis Prep Seminary, St. Louis, 1949-51; DePaul University, Chicago, 1951-62; and St. Vincent de Paul Seminary, Lemont, 1965-92.
Survivors are two brothers, Kenneth Zimney of Davenport, Iowa, and Arthur Zimney of Savannah, Ga.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
