Junene Carnahan, 67, of 747 Carnahan Road, Compton died Sept. 17, 2009, in Mendota Community Hospital shortly after arrival.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Fox Valley Unity Church, 230 Webster St., Batavia, with the Rev. Glennie Smith and licensed Unity teacher Marge Orchard officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation. There will be a reception at the church following the service. Schwarz Funeral Home, Mendota, provided the arrangements.
She was born Dec. 22, 1941, in Mendota to Donald and Dorothy J. (Gilmore) Carnahan. She attended Fox Valley Unity Church, Batavia.
She graduated from Mendota High School in 1959 and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado before serving with the U.S. Peace Corps in Colombia for three years. She returned to the United States and received her master's degree before returning to teach for eight years in Colombia.
She is survived by her partner, Alana Ziegenmeyer of Compton; one brother, Doug Carnahan of Weymouth, Mass.; and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
