Helen (Baracani) Niedzwiecki, 91, of Spring Valley, formerly of Peru, died at 3:25 a.m. Oct. 19, 2009, in Manor Court Nursing Home, Princeton.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, La Salle. The Rev. Robert Rayson will officiate. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.
Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Friday in Mueller and Pagani Funeral Home, La Salle.
She was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Spring Valley to Letizio and Sadie (Biagino) Baracani. She married William Niedzwiecki on April 14, 1941, in Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, La Salle.
She was employed as a custodian at La Salle-Peru Township High School. She was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Church and Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors are one son, Terry (Janice) Niedzwiecki of Rockford; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lena (William "Gus") Surr of Spring Valley, Paula (Don) Leynaud of Peru, Delores Actis of Spring Valley and Norma Hall of Spring Valley; and two brothers, Elmer Baracani of Spring Valley and John (Mary) Baracani of Spring Valley.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 13, 1994; one daughter, Carol Waclaw; two sisters, Rose Driver and Mary Petroski; and three brothers in infancy.
