George Cyril Muylle, 83, of 1009 25th St., Peru died at 3:18 a.m. Oct. 11, 2009, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, after an extended illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hurst Funeral Home, La Salle, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Spring Valley. The Rev. Robert Spilman will officiate. Burial will be at St. Vincent's Cemetery, La Salle, with full military rites by the La Salle-Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the funeral home.
Mr. Muylle was born Jan. 1, 1926, in La Salle to Cyril and Sylvia (Van De Poole) Muylle. He married Geraldine Mildred Hopp in 1947. She died on June 8, 1983. He then married Jacqueline Schlosser on Sept. 22, 1996.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943-1947 as pharmacist mate 3rd class dental technician.
He was a cabinetmaker and finish carpenter with Carpenters Union Local 195.
He was founder of George's Polka Band and was a member of the Platters Club.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Cindy Serochi of El Cajon, Calif.; two sons, James Cyril (Karen) Muylle of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and George (Cyndi) Muylle of San Diego, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Sue (Kevin) Holladay of Spring Valley and Jill (Brent) Gayan of Peru; two stepsons, Rick Schlosser of Henry and Kirk Schlosser of Joliet; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Elsie Dathe of Orland Park.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; one daughter, Christine Olson; and one brother. Memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Catholic Church to a fund for repaving the parking lot.
