“Mr. Clean gets rid of dirt and grime.” Workers with Starved Rock State Park were busy Monday moving dirt off the lower parking lot near the visitors center. The lot was closed after heavy May rains caused the Illinois River to spill its banks. Crews will be removing silt from the lower parking area this week and hope to have it open to the public by the weekend. Meanwhile, park visitors are asked to park at the lodge or overflow lots until the lower parking area opens.
