The City of Peru is considering making amendments to the city zoning ordinance to provide for the regulation of adult-use cannabis. At the request of Mayor Scott Harl, the matter will be discussed at the committee level first.
Also at last week’s council meeting:
Aldermen granted permission for Illinois Valley Animal Rescue to have a dog-walking fundraiser at Baker Lake 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8.
The council also granted permission for Perfectly Flawed Foundation to bring some animals — dogs, a cat and a horse — to the first Back To School Bash on Sept. 15. Alderman Tom Payton said yes, as long as the organization cleans up.
The council received a request from Bruce Korte for a variance for construction of a garage, with a proposed height of up to 24 feet, for 14 10th St. Korte will have a hearing at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14.
IL Valley Green is seeking to subdivide property at 830 Harrison St., the former Eagles lodge. The request was referred to the Peru planning and zoning board.
