Illinois Valley Community College provided a seamless transition for a recent graduate.
IVCC geology professor Mike Phillips spoke to the college’s board Thursday night during the monthly meeting.
“I just wanted to say lots of nice things about our counselors and the faculty,” Phillips said, explaining he just got back from dropping his daughter off at Southern Illinois University Carbondale where she transferred to after graduating from IVCC this past spring.
“Her transfer was perfect. All of her classes transferred,” Phillips said. “Just what we would hope for our students.”
He said she only has to take 60-62 hours to graduate.
Board members responded with “fantastic” and “thank you for sharing.”
Board chairwoman Jane Goetz said they’re proud of the work done at IVCC, and they wish Phillips’ daughter the best.
