Ottawa Elementary Schools have been awarded $12.3 million from Federal Emergency Management Agency for the repair or replacement of Central School.
Superintendent Craig Doster announced the award, which comprises 75 percent of the $17.3 million in eligible damages, in a press release issued this morning.
"We were hoping for more funding, but this is very good," he said. "Six months ago we were getting zero dollars."
Doster said the board has not yet decided whether to rebuild Central School at its current site or to build new at a different location. A decision will be made by year's end, he said.
