OTTAWA - Ottawa mayor and liquor commissioner Bob Eschbach announced the suspension of the local liquor licenses of two local bars in connection with gambling charges stemming from an April 1, 2009, sting operation. All three establishments entered guilty pleas and were sentenced in La Salle County Circuit Court.

The license holders were entitled to a hearing before the liquor commissioner, but two of the cases were disposed of by stipulation as follows:

The license of K.A.L.E., Inc., doing business as Berta's Tap, 616 Clinton St., Ottawa, is suspended for 14 consecutive days beginning Sept. 28 until Oct. 12 at 12:01 a.m.

The license of Kenneth M. Cusick, doing business as Kenny's Tap, 401 W. Norris Drive, Ottawa, is sus-pended for seven consecutive days beginning Nov. 1 until Nov. 8 at 12:01 a.m.

The disposition of third case involving a liquor violation for Jane Jobst, doing business as Jane's Pub, still is pending, Eschbach said.
