A marker will be dedicated at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 at the site of the one-room Cox School on the west side of Oglesby.
The site is on the southwest corner of Richard Moyle Sr. Highway (Oglesby Spur) and Orlando Smith Road.
People are invited to attend and, if they wish, to bring memorabilia in an 8½-by-10-inch envelope for burial in a time capsule.
A dinner will follow at Corral Inn, Cedar Point. Call (847) 380-5660 if you plan to attend.
Former Cox student Ed Boehm of Joliet raised money for the marker and time capsule.
The school closed in 1954 and was demolished in 1976. It served students in grades 1-8.
It was named after Henry Cox, a farmer and jeweler who donated land for the school.
