PHILADELPHIA - Rookie left-hander J.A. Happ took a line drive off his knee on his fourth pitch in relief in the top of the seventh inning today.
The drive ricocheted off his leg to load the bases. Happ had entered the game with runners on first and second and no outs in relief of Joe Blanton.
Happ, a Peru native and St. Bede graduate, threw some warm-up pitches after getting struck by the ball, but Phillies coaches opted to take him out of the game with the Colorado Rockies leading 4-3.
The Phillies had won the first game in the National League divisional series.
