Peru police called for the Illinois Secretary of State's bomb squad Thursday morning after police were investigating a separate situation in a home at 1629 Fifth St. and a resident there expressed concern about weapons or explosives being in the garage.
In the garage, police found four hand grenades, and they could not be certain at the time whether they were live.
They called the bomb squad from Springfield, which arrived around noon, used a robot and investigated, finding they were decommissioned grenades.
No charges were filed in connection to the grenades, because possession of them was not illegal.
