OTTAWA — A Peru man caught on tape arguing with two senior citizens — appearing to shove both — was indicted last week on three felony charges.

Michael E. Stuart, 43, of 808 Sixth St. is scheduled to appear for arraignment July 12 on three counts of aggravated battery, all Class 3 felonies with a base range of 2-5 years in prison.

Stuart is out of custody, having posted bond.

Stuart’s arrest on June 12 came on the heels of the release of a short video depicting a man arguing with two seniors and one he appeared to push.

Separately, a Troy Grove man was indicted on multiple charges stemming from an accident and police chase, during which he allegedly struck an officer.

Jason Henry, 29, of 609 Union St. was charged June 26 with aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated resisting arrest, both felonies, plus driving under the influence, domestic battery and assorted traffic charges including leaving the scene of an accident involving vehicle damage.

Henry could face 3-7 years in prison if convicted of battery to a police officer, the more serious of his two felony counts.

First-responders were dispatched to reports of a vehicle striking a tree near East Third and North 3675th roads west of Troy Grove. The driver, later identified as Henry, attempted to flee and struggled when authorities attempted to place him in custody.

Investigators learned that shortly before the accident, Henry allegedly was involved in a domestic incident at his residence, and he subsequently was charged with domestic battery, according to the sheriff’s office.

Finally, the grand jury indicted an Oglesby man on three counts of possession of child pornography.

Timothy Stephens, 32, of 133 E. Second St., Oglesby was charged June 21 following an investigation by local police and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office’s High Tech Crime Bureau. He could face 3-7 years if convicted.
