North Central Illinois ARTworks and its artists’ group, River Valley Visuals, invite student artists to enter original art in the Town & Country Youth Art Show 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 6 at the Westclox ARTworks Center in the Westclox building on U.S. Rte. 6 in Peru.
Previously, Ottawa Art League hosted the youth show, said artist Nicole Warren, show chair.
The Town & Country Youth Art Show, presented by NCI ARTworks, is open to middle school to high school-age students, including home-school students.
Entry forms are available through art teachers at middle and high schools in LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam Counties or at www.nciartworks.com or by calling NCI ARTworks at (815) 228-1253.
Entry forms must be received at NCI ARTworks by March 11.
There is a two-entry limit per student.
Two- and three-dimensional original artwork is eligible and can include (but not limited to) drawings, paintings, pottery, plastic, paper, glass or wood sculpture, mixed media, and photography. No tracings, reproductions, nudes or art with references to illegal substances will be judged.
An experienced art educator will judge each artwork individually based on originality, composition and technique. Blue, red and white ribbons will be awarded to all work in each of three art show divisions: Middle School (Grades 5-8), Freshman/Sophomore, and Junior/Senior. Gift Certificates will be awarded in each division with one “Best of Show Award” given. All blue-ribbon winners will be eligible to enter the Town & Country State Show in Champaign.
