Students at Putnam County High School learned hands-only CPR last week during a program taught by Stephanie Miles of the Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria. The students were also taught how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator), which is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and sends a shock to restore normal rhythm if necessary.
