A garbage truck fire required a response from the Spring Valley fire department Tuesday morning.
Spring Valley fire responded shortly before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday to the alley between St. Paul and Devlin streets, near Taylor Street where smoke and flames were coming from the top of a garbage truck, fire chief Todd Bogatitus said.
The fire department knocked down the flames with a hose and foam. Bogatitus said the truck driver did sustain minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene.
Spring Valley police and 10/33 Ambulance also responded to the call. A tow truck had to be called to remove the garbage truck. The scene was cleared in about one hour.
