Three separate projects, two for senior housing and one for families and all ages, have been referred to the planning and zoning board by the Peru City Council.
On Monday, the council referred to the zoning and planning commission two requests for variances — from GC Housing Development LLC and Crane Construction Co. LLC, for properties at 1810 Fourth St. and 710 Peoria St.
Both have envisioned senior housing developments. One of the developments for ages 55 and older is planned in the large building downtown that previously housed the Midland States Bank and AMCORE bank facilities.
Another would be in the former one-story medical building along the west side of Peoria Street and a half-block south of Fourth St. The building had been for sale for at least two years.
Two weeks earlier, the council referred a request for zoning modification from MVAH Holdings LLC (www.mvahpartners.com) for a 61-apartment development, with at least some subsidized units, along North Peoria St. to the east of the water store, northeast of the city water treatment plant and north of Hy-Vee.
A public hearing on the request for a special use permit for MVAH is set for 5:15 p.m. Jan. 29 in the Peru Municipal Building, 1910 Fourth St. The land is zoned B-4, multi-use.
