The Streator Fire Department has not determined the cause of a Sunday night fire at 911 E. 12th St.

The fire department released a press release Sunday night confirming no injuries.

Damage to the home was minor, the department said in the release. Portions of the roof structure showed moderate fire damage. The attic space also had moderate smoke damage. Parts of the home had minor water damage. The residents of the home were assisted by the American Red Cross.

Firefighters attributed the quick response to limiting damage to the home.

Crews arrived on scene a little more than 2 minutes from dispatch and found the single-story, wood framed home with smoke and flames coming from the roof.

Firefighters moved hose lines into the home to attack the fire from the inside and removed portions of the ceiling to access fire in the attic.

The first due crew also found two dogs inside the home. Both dogs were rescued and ran outside.

Additional crews arrived and cut a hole in the roof for further access to the fire. Firefighters also protected the home’s belongings from water and debris by deploying tarps inside the home.

In total, the fire was extinguished in just less than 15 minutes. The fire department was on scene for about 90 minutes.
