The MABAS Division 25 Technical Rescue Team was called before 4 p.m. Wednesday to Pontiac to assist with a "trench rescue," fire department officials from Utica and La Salle confirmed.
A 911 dispatch called for additional help in Pontiac due to a man trapped in a 12-foot hole or trench, with dirt caved in.
This morning, Pontiac fire chief Jacob Campbell said he was working on a press release on the situation. However, he said the person had become buried from the waist down, and was alive when he was freed.
Utica sent two members of the tactical rescue team, and dispatchers also alerted Peru, Oglesby, Earlville and Mendota fire departments.
