ROUNDUP: Earlville volleyball tops Leland

Emma Benson served for 18 points and nine assists to go along with 14 assists to lead the Earlville volleyball team to a 25-10, 25-10 victory over Leland in a Little Ten Conference match Thursday in Earlville.

Kylie Koontz put down eight kills for the Lady Red Raiders (4-1, 1-0 LTC).

Fieldcrest def. Putnam County 25-8, 25-20

Maci Fandel had 12 assists Thursday as the Knights earned a non-conference victory in Minonk.

Gracie Schultz added eight kills for Fieldcrest (6-0).

La Salle-Peru def. Sandwich 25-18, 25-16

The Lady Cavaliers remained undefeated on the season with an Interstate Eight Conference victory Thursday in La Salle.

L-P, which hasn’t dropped a set, is 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

Princeton def. Erie-Prophetstown 25-19, 17-25, 25-16

Katie Bates had 22 assists and six digs Thursday to help the Tigresses to a Three Rivers Conference East Division victory in Princeton.

Kenzie Coleman contributed nine digs, six kills, six points and four aces for PHS (2-1, 2-0 TRC East).

LaMoille-Ohio def. Hinckley-Big Rock 25-9, 19-25, 25-19

Ki’Ayana Moore had seven blocks and five kills as the Lady Lions picked up a Little Ten Conference victory Thursday in Hinckley.

Kiersten Shevokas served up 14 points and six aces for L-O.

Bureau Valley def. Morrison 25-7, 25-14

Makanna Sabin had 12 digs, five points and a pair of aces as the Storm rolled to a Three Rivers Conference crossover Thursday in Morrison.

Lauren Wirth added nine assists for BV (4-3).

Newman def. Hall 25-19, 25-9

The Lady Red Devils dropped a Three Rivers Conference East Division match Thursday in Sterling.


Earlville 4, Oregon 1

Jarred Fries scored a pair of goals and had an assist Thursday to lead the Red Raiders to a non-conference victory in Earlville.

Devyn Kennedy had a goal and an assist, while Landon Larkin contributed a goal.

Sycamore 10, La Salle-Peru 0

The Cavaliers fell in an Interstate Eight Conference game Thursday in La Salle.


At Edgington

The Amboy-LaMoille boys placed three runners in the top five to win the Rockridge Invitational on Thursday.

For the Clippers, Brock Loftus placed third, Kyler McNinch took fourth and Ian Eller finished fifth.

A-L scored 47 points to beat Orion (63), Mercer County (63), Rockridge (95), Kewanee (96) and Mid-County (155).

In the girls race, A-L’s Margaret Vaessen won the individual title in 20:52, while teammate Lauren Althaus finished fourth.

The Lady Clippers took second with 31 points. Orion won with 29.


At Princeton

Caleb Alter and Dylan Gross each shot a 1-over-par 36 to share medalist honors and lead Princeton to a victory in a Three Rivers Conference triangular at Wyaton Hills Country Club.

Trent Kloepping added a 39 for PHS, which carded a 151 to beat Rockridge (165) and Morrison (243).

At Sheffield

Nathaniel Mrowicki shot a career-best 38 on Thursday to earn medalist honors as Hall finished third in a Three Rivers Conference triangular at Hidden Lake Golf Club.

Erie-Prophetstown won with a 172 followed by Bureau Valley (178) and the Red Devils (180).

Newark 170, Earlville 207

Earlville’s Branson Vahl shot a 38 to tie for medalist honors in a Little Ten Conference match Thursday in Earlville.

Fieldcrest 206, Midland 238

Koy Allen carded a 37 to earn medalist honors as the Knights picked up a non-conference victory Thursday at Tall Oaks Country Club in Toluca.


Sterling 5, Mendota 0

The Lady Trojans were swept Thursday in Sterling.
